Information we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, or that is needed to run the website. This includes:
- Enquiry form: your name, email address, telephone number, the area you need help with and the message you write.
- Emails and telephone calls: your contact details and whatever you tell us.
- Health information: details about your symptoms, diagnosis or treatment, if you include them in an enquiry or provide them when you become a patient.
- Website usage: if you accept analytics cookies, information about how you use the site, such as the pages you visit and the type of device you use. This does not identify you by name. If you decline analytics cookies, the site still sends Google an anonymous, cookieless ping when a page loads, which sets no cookies and does not identify you; Google uses it to estimate overall visitor numbers.
The website also contains a hidden field to block spam. It does not collect any information about you.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry and arrange a consultation if you would like one
- provide your medical care if you become a patient, and keep accurate clinical records
- handle billing and correspondence with your insurer, if you are insured
- meet our legal and professional obligations
- understand how the website is used so we can improve it, where you have agreed to analytics cookies
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have asked us to.
Our legal basis
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we must have a lawful basis for using your information:
- Responding to enquiries: our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us, and taking steps at your request before you become a patient.
- Providing care: the performance of our agreement with you. For health information, the provision of health care by a health professional who owes you a duty of confidentiality.
- Legal and regulatory duties: compliance with our legal obligations, such as keeping medical records and responding to regulators.
- Analytics cookies: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Health information
Health information is a special category of personal data and is given extra protection by law. It is treated in confidence, in line with the General Medical Council's guidance on confidentiality, and is only shared with people directly involved in your care or where the law requires it.
The enquiry form is not intended for detailed medical information. Please share only what you need to for us to understand your enquiry; we will ask for any further details during your consultation.
International transfers
Some of our service providers, including Zapier and Google, may process information outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries that do not lead to a consultation: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Medical records: for the periods recommended for medical records in the UK, which for adults is usually at least 8 years after treatment ends, and longer for some conditions, including cancer.
- Financial records: for 6 years, as required for tax purposes.
- Analytics data: up to 14 months.
Keeping your information secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections to this website and restricted access to our inbox and records. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so please avoid including sensitive details in emails if you can; you can always call us instead.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you

Cookies
We only use analytics cookies if you agree to them. Without your consent, only an anonymous, cookieless ping is sent to Google Analytics. Our Cookie Policy explains the cookies we use and how to change your choice.

This website links to other websites, such as the NHS, charities and news publications. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites, and a link does not mean we endorse them.
